USAID has commissioned the Advancing the Blue Revolution Initiative (ABRI), managed by Development Alternatives Inc., with the provision of technical services to the Government of Morocco in order to develop a pilot project for treated wastewater reuse in agriculture in the region of Meknes, considering that a wastewater treatment plant located a few kilometers outside the city of Meknes is scheduled to be completed in late 2008.

In this context, services provided included the review of relevant Moroccan laws, the identification of concerned institutions, the development of institutional mechanisms, and the definition of responsibilities for the management of irrigated perimeters using treated wastewater.
